The Tales of Beedle the Bard Review

The Tales of Beedle the Bard ★★★★★

Good morning, wonderful bookaholics! Shall we move on with the Potter binge? This time I bring you a fairly old, but really interesting, spin-off from the Harry Potter saga: The Tales of Beedle the Bard. And, unlike The Cursed Child, I have a very favourable opinion of it.

But let me elaborate.

I Met Randall Munroe from XKCD!

Oh my God, I can’t believe it, I did!! I’m sure you’ll know him already, but humour me for a few seconds. Randall Munroe is the author of the webcomic XKCD, a cartoon famous for having very simplistic drawings and very witty—and usually science-related—jokes. He is also the author of What If?, a book where he gives very serious answers to very ridiculous questions; and Thing Explainer, a book where he explains complicated scientific stuff using only the 1,000 most common English words.

I have been a big fan of XKCD for almost a decade, so meeting him was a life-long dream! But let me start from the beginning…

Harry Potter & the Cursed Child Review

Harry Potter and the Cursed Child ★★★☆☆

I have done it! I have finally finished the latest—and last—story in the Harry Potter saga! It took me some time, but I finally got there. And I’ve got to admit, I’m as conflicted as everyone else who has read it. Is it inspiring, or is it just disappointing? Did this story need to happen, or did it help to do nothing but twist the hopes and dreams of potterheads all over the globe? To put it plainly: is it good or bad?

I can’t tell what your opinion of it will be, but I can give you mine!

Expecto Patronum!

Good morning, lovely booknebelungcats! I hope you’re potterheads, because today is a great day to be one. Pottermore is the official Harry Potter site with posts from J.K. Rowling herself. In it you can find such interesting things as the Sorting Hat Quiz (if you haven’t taken it yet, go and do it post-haste! I need to know what house you’re in!!) and the wand quiz. There is also plenty of information on every Hogwarts house, every character, and even Ilvermorny, the North American school of wizardry.

And yesterday—just yesterday!—they released a new quiz: the Patronus test!
