Thanks for visiting my blog. I just dipped quickly into yours and got derailed before I could really get started by the Goodreads mention of ‘The Worm at the Core.’ I shall return to your blog with interest later but just wanted to expressed my thanks for this unexpected benefit. I attend a Death Cafe regularly, as you may know from my blog, and this book looks like obligatory reading for me.
Me gustaLe gusta a 1 persona
Thank you for your kind words! I find that really interesting, since I have an academic interest in death–in fact, next month I’ll be giving a conference at the Universidad Complutense on the subject! Some other very interesting books are Becker’s “The Denial of Death” and Fran Kermode “The Sense of an Ending”; they are my primary sources. I would love to discuss this topic further!
Me gustaLe gusta a 1 persona
Thanks for the heads up on the two other books. The Becker one, which I had never heard of, looks particularly intriguing. I’ve ordered ‘Worm at the Core’ which is on its way. I’m at the beginning of a journey in terms of such perspectives about death as my interest so far has either been personal (death has been at the centre of many of my experiences since childhood) or psychological (usually in terms of what strange experiences close to death might suggest about the nature of consciousness.)
Me gustaLe gusta a 1 persona
I’m glad to be of help! Death is indeed fascinating, and I feel intrigued by your perspective on it. All the work I’ve done on it has been on a social or an anthropological level—I like to see what defence mechanisms whole civilisations put in place when faced with such a strange and intriguing event in our lives.

I’m very impressed by your list of professional qualifications, and your present occupation in the Oxford bookshop sounds wonderful to a book lover like me. Where would we be without our books? I adore Oxford, too, having once lived in a nearby village for six years. I try to review the books I’ve read, and have written quite a few reviews in the past. Unfortunately both my reading and reviewing is at a much slower pace nowadays due to lack of time.
I’ll enjoy having a browse through some of your posts as soon as I can. 🙂

Looks like we have lived very similar lives! Then again, book lovers are always attracted to the same things, aren’t we? 🙂 specially Oxford—this is the city of books!

Aw, you’re so sweet ^^ well, I do spend a lot of time looking for new and interesting blogs, so no wonder I ended up finding yours! You seem to have quite a following on Wattpad, too. I will make sure to give The Soul Reaver a read ^^

Haha! Thank you! I started with Wattpad about two years back, and it has been a very rewarding experience, although I don’t have a huge following:) But those that do read my stuff are amazing people. (And not just cause they read my scribblings)
Tell me what you think about TSR if you get a chance to pick it up. I started reading your work, it has amazing artwork! Loving the whole concept so far. Laters!
