Friday Book Share #6

It’s Friday again! Which means it’s time for #FridayBookShare, a wonderful tag created by Shelley Wilson. This tag lets us tell people about wonderful books we love, and is there anything better than talking about our favourite books?

So why don’t you recommend a book too? What you need to do, if you want to share it, is complete the following for a book of your choosing:

First line of the book.

Recruit fans by adding the book blurb.

Introduce the main character using only three words.

Delightful design (add the cover image of the book).

Audience appeal (who would enjoy reading this book?)

Your favourite line/scene.

I mentioned in my last post that I have just finished reading Imperium, by Robert Harris; and, since I’m about to finish the second book in the saga, which I am enjoying immensely, I thought I would recommend it, too! So, without further preamble, let’s recommend…

LUSTRUM, by ROBERT HARRIS

Imperium Review

Imperium ★★★★☆

Do you like ancient Rome? Do you like tales of political intrigue? Do you like long-winded speeches made by lawyers on very complex Roman laws?

Okay, that last bit doesn’t sound exceptionally promising, but in the hand of Robert Harris, it can be far more interesting than you would imagine! Today I will be reviewing Imperium, the first of Harris’s trilogy on Cicero, and an excellent book that kept me hooked for days.

Let me tell you about it.

Jenna’s Truth Review

Jenna’s Truth ★★★★★

Today I have the honour of reviewing Nadia L. King‘s Jenna’s Truth. I call it an honour because, even though I read a lot of books—from the entertaining to the informative—it’s not very often that I get my hands on something so worth reading. This is a book about teenage bullying, and the dangers of social media when used with the wrong intentions.

Let me tell you more about it.

Good morning, lovely bookaholics! I apologise for not posting a lot lately, I have come down with the flu and I can barely leave my bed at all. Apparently I’m not dealing that well with the temperature change 😦 But let’s forget about that!

Today I bring you a beautiful illustrated children’s book, The Night Before Christmas. I was asked by the lovely people of Nursery Box Books to do a review for it, and after taking a look at it, I agreed. It’s just so cute and lovely!

The Tales of Beedle the Bard Review

The Tales of Beedle the Bard ★★★★★

Good morning, wonderful bookaholics! Shall we move on with the Potter binge? This time I bring you a fairly old, but really interesting, spin-off from the Harry Potter saga: The Tales of Beedle the Bard. And, unlike The Cursed Child, I have a very favourable opinion of it.

But let me elaborate.

Harry Potter and the Cursed Child ★★★☆☆

I have done it! I have finally finished the latest—and last—story in the Harry Potter saga! It took me some time, but I finally got there. And I’ve got to admit, I’m as conflicted as everyone else who has read it. Is it inspiring, or is it just disappointing? Did this story need to happen, or did it help to do nothing but twist the hopes and dreams of potterheads all over the globe? To put it plainly: is it good or bad?

I can’t tell what your opinion of it will be, but I can give you mine!

WARNING!! SPOILERS AHEAD!!
