Imperium ★★★★☆

Do you like ancient Rome? Do you like tales of political intrigue? Do you like long-winded speeches made by lawyers on very complex Roman laws?

Okay, that last bit doesn’t sound exceptionally promising, but in the hand of Robert Harris, it can be far more interesting than you would imagine! Today I will be reviewing Imperium, the first of Harris’s trilogy on Cicero, and an excellent book that kept me hooked for days.

Book Review – The Year of the Hare

I don’t know how many among my readers have ever dabbled in Finnish literature. I, for one, can’t boast to have done it too often, with the exception of one author: Arto Paasilinna. Which is kind of crazy; I have grown up listening to Finnish music, I have watched a bunch of Finnish movies, and am generally in love with Finland. It was clear that I had to remedy this regrettable situation as soon as possible.

And that’s what I did.

Good morning, lovely bookaholics! I apologise for not posting a lot lately, I have come down with the flu and I can barely leave my bed at all. Apparently I’m not dealing that well with the temperature change 😦 But let’s forget about that!

Today I bring you a beautiful illustrated children’s book, The Night Before Christmas. I was asked by the lovely people of Nursery Box Books to do a review for it, and after taking a look at it, I agreed. It’s just so cute and lovely!

The Joys of Bookstagram

Today, I have a shocking confession to make.

I am a bookstagrammer.

What does that mean? I have an Instagram devoted entirely and completely to books. I post pictures of books almost every day, in all sorts of different arrangements and with a number of merchandise surrounding it. As I wake up every morning, the first thing I do is take my mobile phone, arrange my books in beautiful patterns, and upload the photos I take for thousands of people to see.
